James “J” Mills is a part-time business consultant and full-time writer. In 2006, after more than twenty-five years in the outdoor recreation and resort business, he began a four year sabbatical sailing the Sea of Cortez and west coast of Central America aboard his forty-seven foot sloop Location. In 2010, he returned to work in California with an extensive photo portfolio and journal of his travels, and a head full of stories.
J’s essays, stories, and poems have been published in Sea Magazine, Latitude 38, Georgetown News-Graphic, Eclectica Magazine, The MacGuffin, Impressions anthology, Park & Recreation Trades magazine, and elsewhere. He has also been a featured speaker at the California Association of Harbor Masters & Port Captains Annual Conference, the Marina Recreation Association Annual Conference, and numerous state and municipal agency meetings.
Today, J is focused on writing a novel, completing a collection of short stories, and writing a memoir of his sailing adventures and life in Mexico. Some of his published work can be found on line at https://jamesmills.contently.com, and at http://jamesmcvsailor.hubpages.com. He occasionally writes under the pen name, James McV.
