Mark Coker “How to E-Publish and Sell Your Book” March 17, 2018

Mark Coker, a former Silicon Valley publicist, started Smashwords in 2008 with the lofty goal of using technology to democratize publishing—allowing writers to appeal directly to readers without having to deal with gatekeepers such as agents and editors. To date, Smashwords has published over 475,000 books. Smashwords is a no cost, no frills, way to get your ebook into print, and you can do it in a day.

For our March meeting, Coker will combine his two most popular talks: “Intro to Ebook Publishing: A Primer for Beginners,” and “Sixteen Indie Publishing Secrets.” After giving an overview of the latest ebook market trends, he will provide a step-by-step ebook publishing checklist covering everything you need to know to get started. Then he will introduce sixteen best practices that can make your book more discoverable and desirable to readers.

Join us on Saturday, March 17, at 2:00 p.m. at Four Points by Sheraton, 5115 Hopyard Road, Pleasanton to hear Coker’s presentation. Check-in begins at 1:30 p.m. RSVP to Haihong Liao by Wednesday, March 14,  at reservations@trivalleywriters.org. See “TVW Monthly Meeting Details” on this page for meeting fees.

Coker is a contributing columnist for Publishers Weekly and the host of the popular SMART AUTHOR podcast available on Apple Podcasts and anywhere else fine podcasts are found. For a Q & A with Coker, visit the About page on the Smashwords website.
