VIRTUAL BRANCH MEETING

Join us on Zoom for our monthly meeting!

See below for Reservation & Payment details*

Rachael Herron will present a special workshop: “Get the Attention You Deserve: Queries, Synopses, and Blurbs” at the Tri-Valley Writers September meeting. Getting an editor or agent to notice you and your work in their cluttered email inboxes is a challenge. Rachael will talk about queries, synopses, and blurbs, and we’ll learn how they’re not scary but actually doable! In this workshop, you’ll have time to practice and to workshop  your blurb and queries. Leave this session feeling more confident than ever about your craft!

Join us on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.

Registration is now CLOSED.

In this workshop you’ll learn:

  • How to draft a Magic Query letter (Rachael’s specialty, a $100 value)
  • How to make synopses a little less painful (They’re just dreadful items, no matter how you look at them)
  • How to draft a back-cover blurb that leaps off the page
  • What agents are really looking for
  • The “secret handshake” of publishing (Hint: It’s hidden in the close of your query letter)

Rachael is the international bestselling author of more than two dozen books, including thriller (under R.H. Herron), mainstream fiction, feminist romance, memoir, and nonfiction about writing. She received her MFA in writing from Mills College, Oakland, and she teaches writing extension workshops at both UC Berkeley and Stanford. She is a proud member of the NaNoWriMo Writer’s Board. She’s a New Zealand citizen as well as an American.
