One of the ways we support emerging writers is through the Tri-Valley Writers Scholarship. Each year our branch donates $250 and the California Writers Club statewide organization matches it to provide a $500 scholarship to be awarded to a Las Positas student.

2018 LPC Scholarship Winner

The 2018 recipient of Tri-Valley Writers Las Positas Scholarship is Sara Riensche. She is studying Language Arts at LPC. Sarah, who plans to be a teacher, is excited about the ways writing and storytelling can be used in the classroom. She says, “Writing has been a passion of mine for several years, and I am very grateful to receive the Tri Valley Writers Scholarship. I am going to transfer to CSU East Bay and major there in Liberal Arts: Teacher Prep. I plan to teach elementary school. My ultimate dream is to teach language arts to children and inspire them to a lifetime of writing.”
2017 LPC Scholarship Winner

This spring Tri-Valley Writers TVW sponsored a scholarship at Las Positas College. On May 17, 2017, Suzannah Collins was awarded the Tri-Valley Writers Scholarship at a ceremony held at the college. Suzannah is studying to be a translator. She says, “I’m fascinated with the origin of words and love to read and write. A career in translation fits with my goals to travel, be financially independent, and have a flexible work schedule. Later I plan to transfer to a four-year state college where I will continue learning Spanish, then Mandarin.” Congratulations to Suzannah! We wish her well in her studies.
