I called Natalio in August Pine Ridge, Belize on New Year’s Eve, 2009 to catch up on the Belize Open Source property and let him know I am coming in February. Natalio said Christmas had gone well for his family and we wished each other’s families a good new year. “I just drove by the …

December 2009 President’s Message from Lani Longshore

President's Message / By trivalleywriters

The holiday rush can spell the end of hard-won routines. Family and friends might take it personally if you disappear with your notebook (paper or electronic) growling, “I need to write!” So this year, instead of being the resident Scrooge, use your time to observe. Drink in the smells, the sounds, the sights, and draw …

The Path to Publication

Every book tells a story, and every writer’s story of his or her path to publication is unique. President's Message / By trivalleywriters

The November novel challenge is underway – do you have your first 1000 words down yet? 2024 Alameda County Arts Commission Grant

Tri-Valley Writers was fortunate to be awarded a generous grant of $2500 by the Alameda County Arts Commission. ACAC is supported by a grant from the Alameda County Arts Commission ARTSFUND. The grants are awarded on a two-year cycle to 501(c)3 arts groups within Alameda County. TVW is grateful to the Alameda County Arts Commission for helping TVW support the literary arts. Congratulations Tri-Valley Writers!

2025 LPC Scholarship Winner

One of the ways we support emerging writers is through the Tri-Valley Writers Scholarship. Each year our branch donates $250 and the California Writers Club statewide organization matches it to provide a $500 scholarship to be awarded to a Las Positas student.

The 2025 winner is Peggy Duncan. Peggy will be at LPC one more year before transferring to another college to finish her B.A. She plans a career in public relations, perhaps as a publicist for artists and writers  (pictured with Daniela Fritter, treasurer). Congratulations to this worthy student!
